This Sunday, November 3, we welcome Rev. Istifanus Bahago to the pulpit in our 10 am service in the large worship space.
Rev. Istifanus Bahago grew up in a Nigerian village, not far from where Johanna Veenstra had earlier led the CRCNA into ministry. After studying theology, Rev. Bahago began teaching at the seminary of the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN). From 1996 – 2001 he was also the seminary president.
In 2001, CRCN elected Rev. Bahago to serve as president of the denomination. He served two five-year terms, the maximum allowed. When it was time to step down as president, CRCN appointed Rev. Bahago to be the director of its mission board. His tenure in this position was short because Rev. Bahago accepted a missionary call himself to serve in Sierra Leone. From 2013 to the present, Rev. Bahago has been serving as a consultant to the leaders of the much-younger Christian Reformed Church of Sierra Leone.
Rev. Bahago and his wife Jemima have four children, who now reside in Nigeria and range in age from 18 to 26.
This Sunday there will be an Open House for Rev. Bahago from 2-4 PM at the Kortenhoven home. You are all invited to come with your questions and interest in a ministry that COS has supported since 1980. Amazing things are happening in Sierra Leone. Praise the Lord for Rev. Bahago and his family who have given leadership to the growing Christian Reformed Church of Sierra Leone for the last 6 years.
