I have been in the field as both a generalist and substance abuse counselor for 13 years. I have worked in many outpatient settings, facilitating groups, performing assessments and practicing individual therapy. Client populations range from adolescents to adults with chronic mental health and social issues. I also hold a certification in advanced alcohol and drug counseling.
I am a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Masters in Social Work and have certification as an addictions counselor. I have worked for Pine Rest Christian Mental Health for 15 years including time at Christian Counseling Center.
My faith influences my practice because I know that God has gifted me with abilities and skills that allow clients to open up and share. Providing encouragement, holding stories in confidence and providing comfort and validation to others are inherent parts of my therapeutic style. I provide both mental health and substance abuse counseling. I have a heart for women.
