The Guitarchestra, affectionately know as Gstra, led worship on Sunday. Of course, it was all highlights, but two things are worth making public:
Michel Guimont’s “Psalm 99”
In what other CRC church can you hear a responsorial Psalm written by a Roman Catholic composer chanted against an ensemble of guitars, mandolin and accordion? (That was a rhetorical question. The answer is “in no other.”)
Wendell Kimbrough’s “Mighty God”
My friend Wendell wrote a nice post-communion thanksgiving song based on a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer. One of my Gstrars found it online and recommended it to me. As far as I was concerned, that was confirmation by two or three witnesses.
