Our morning began at 7:45 with a quick breakfast before loading the vans to head to Cheyenne canyon for rappelling with Cross Bearing Adventures. Our guides were great and handled a large group extraordinarily well. We all got a turn rappelling down over a hundred feet of cliff.

We ate sack lunches by a creek in the canyon before driving 20 minutes away into Garden of the Gods park. Cross Bearing Adventures led our climb time as well. Everyone had a blast trying the different routes, even challenging others to races. By 3:30 we were pretty wiped and headed backwards to our vans.

Our drive back to quicker ridge camp included two essential stops: 7-Eleven for Slurpee’s, and Goodwill for some cheap cold-weather gear. The weather is beautiful here, but drops pretty cold at night.

We returned to camp just in time for dinner– a cookout and hoedown. We now have a couple hours until our nightly worship. Tonight, many of our group will climb up Soldier Mountain and camp at the summit. Stay tuned for tomorrow night’s post to hear how we fared on the mountainside.
